Installation information

Notes:

• Any hotfixes that are not included in this hotfix rollup are lost after you install this hotfix rollup. Therefore, we recommend that you reapply those hotfixes after you install this hotfix rollup.
• When planning a deployment that will use a GLS layer for specific regional functionality, we recommend that you install the GLS layer before you install this hotfix rollup. In this case, the update layer that corresponds to the installed GLS layer is installed or updated by the hotfix rollup installation. Otherwise, if the GLS layer is installed after the hotfix rollup installation, you must rerun the hotfix rollup installation to install or update the corresponding GLP layer.
• The rollup package contains both a cumulative kernel update and a cumulative application update. Although there is no dependency between these two updates, we recommend that you install both of the updates together. The rollup will be installed on the SYP layer and the GLP layer.
• For upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1 Hotfix Rollup 5 or later versions that have the GLS layer for Eastern Europe and Russia installed, you must disable the "Keep update objects 4.0" and "Keep update objects 4.1" configuration keys. If these configuration keys are not disabled, the "Synchronize Database" portion of the upgrade checklist will fail. To disable these configuration keys, open Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009, click Administration, expand System under Setup, click Configuration. In the Configuration form, expand the Administration tree node, click to clear the Keep update objects 4.0 check box and the Keep update objects 4.1 check box, and then click Apply. After that, the License and Configuration Differences form will appear and display that the two configuration keys have been disabled. The Tables and Fields tab will show the impact of approving the change on stored data. The Export to file tab gives the opportunity to export all the information of the other two tabs to a text file, so you can call your partner of Microsoft to confirm the changes. After the confirmation is completed, click OK. Then, the Configuration dialog box will pop up to explain that certain tables must be synchronized for the changes to take effect, click Yes to synchronize the tables.

Prerequisites
You must have Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1 installed to apply this hotfix rollup.
Restart requirement
You are not required to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
Validation information
Validation of the rollup installation
To validate the installation of the rollup, open the SysHotfixManifest class in the AOT, and then verify that there is a method whose name is the same as the KB article number of the installed rollup. Additionally, you can validate the installation of the kernel hotfix by cross-checking the kernel version against the build version that is mentioned in the rollup. To obtain the kernel version, click Help, and then click About Microsoft Dynamics AX.
Validation of the kernel files version
To validate the kernel files version, click About Microsoft Dynamics AX on the Help menu. Additionally, you can validate the file version information by viewing the file properties of the Ax32.exe file and of the Ax32serv.exe file. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Locate the Ax32.exe and Ax32serv.exe files in Windows Explorer on the computers that are running the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 client and on the computers that are running the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 AOS server.
2. Right-click the file that you want to validate, and then click Properties.
3. Click the Version tab.

To validate the version of the updated .dll files in the .NET Global Assembly Cache (GAC), such as the Microsoft.Dynamics.BusinessConnectorNet.dll file, follow these steps:

1. Locate the .dll file.
   Note By default, the .dll files are located in the following folder:
   C:\windows\assembly
2. Right-click the file that you want to validate, and then click Properties .
3. Click the Version tab.

Note All Microsoft Dynamics AX files begin with the "Microsoft.Dynamics" string.
